ABSTRACT What goes into creating a data focused dashboard that is both engaging, customizable, and meets the requirements of a public broadcaster? Join us to hear from two members of CBC’s election dashboard team who will discuss their learnings, from working with remote teams, meeting business and accessibility requirements, and advocating for good design and usability.
BIOS Beth Robins has worked in the UX field for 14 years. She started as usability specialist, developing the usability research program at CBC. For the last few years, Beth has worked as a UX designer on various projects including the CBC mobile News site and CBC Hamilton, the first fully responsive CBC website. Recently she helped redevelop the CBC Election dashboard which received unprecedented web traffic during the 2015 federal election. Natasha Rajakariar is a designer with over 10 years experience in web design and production. She is currently Senior UI Designer at CBC, where she has worked on several digital projects including the CBC election website, iPad and Android news apps, and most recently, the federal election dashboard. In addition to web design, she enjoys photography, illustration, and other creative pursuits.
